My husband and I are interested in the Rough Brussels Griffon. We will be able to provide a loving and caring home. I have spoken with an owner that had said it was the wrong breed for her, as she is experiencing difficult housebreaking problems and she has had this breed of a few years. She also has complained of skin rashes due to the course rough fur and her friends have said the same thing. None of them suffer from allergies and have had other pets before. Her dog is also very hyper and unruly. Is this the case for the breed?
My husband and I don't know if this will be the right breed for us. we also have a very quiet and loving cat.
I have had reactions to certin dogs, not breeds, just some dogs. I think it was the shampoo one friend used. But another friend had a pitt mix that I would get hives from everytime, I could deal with it for visiting, and I would take care of him when they left town, but I could not live with it.
I would find a reputable breeder that you can visit with, and spend some time with their dogs to see if you have a problem with their coat type.
Thank you for your reply. I don't think it is the shampoo, she said the coat is so rough that it caused ichiness. I was also told that you could bring the dog to a groomer but that can be costly. but we are going to meet with a reputable breeder to see if we like the breed, but sometimes you really don't know until you take him/her home. If you know of anyone who owns or lives with a Brussels Griffon I would love to know more about their temperment, housebreaking problems if any.
