I had the kids out today for a while, they absolutely love it outside. I snapped a few pics. Pardon the yard, it grows so fast. It almost swallows Tiny! haha. The schnauzer you so, we saw our neighbor outside, shooing and slapping him with the pole end of a broom stick. He was cowered in the corner. I asked him if he was looking to get rid of him, and he said if I wanted him I could take him or else he was going to put him in a trash bag and throw him in the pitts outside of town. Keep in mind, this man BREEDS yellow labs. I found this disgusting, and decided to bring him home. He apparently is in need of a vet visit, and groom. Poor little guy. I'll see about that here in the next few days. His name is "Cooter" but we've been calling him Scooter because it sounds much more pleasant. lol.
For those on the forum who get annoyed by picture posting, i'm sorry. Please just let me know. :)
those are some great pics i especially loved the first and last one.
you sure did manage to build up a whole family of little furry ones. i cannot believe that someone could be so heartless to treat an animal like that. good for you for taking him...he needs a good loving home like you can give him. and i think that scooter sounds much better then cotter....reminds me of cooties. hahaha. anyways congrats on the new babe.
Thank you for posting the ADORABLE photos. I especially love the dappled dachusund. I have never seen one outside of a magazine article or book on dachusunds.
Is it true that they have a different temperment than the "ordinary" dachsunds? I read that they are a bit more laid back and affectionate. This may be hooey, but I was curious.
As to your Schnauzer, I also have a foundling Schnauzer. She is white and much too long-legged to be a "good" Schnauzer, but she is awfully sweet.
Mickey was running loose in a public park. She was rail thin and almost coal black. Boy were we surprised to find out that she was a white dog. It took quite a bit of soap and elbow grease to find that out, though!
I've never owned a dachshund, this is my first. :) I fell in love with the dappled look from the moment I first saw one. My friend had a few red doxies that were just as loving as could be, Tiny is loving as well. She is wacky, too. She has the most fun little personality. Like a toddler, gotta watch her like a hawk or she gets into things she's not supposed to. hehe. She thinks my carpet in my apartment is a fine delicacy. *grin* You have to love them.
As for "Scooter".. I brought him in, I was going to give him a quick wash off in our shower so he could stay inside for the night. He was terribly afraid of the water, poor little guy. I don't think he's ever seen a tub. Someone has very obviously taken just a pair of scissors to his coat, it's an uneven mess.. he even has cuts on his little body. I might try the water hose to hose him down a bit tomorrow, put him on a small chain long enough to do it. My mother has a standard female schnauzer and she felt so bad for the little guy she has decided to keep him... he's even asleep downstairs right next to her bed. He has already bonded with her. My mother has deginerative arthritis and is a severe diabetic, it's almost odd how he never leaves her side.
(To explain to apartment situation, my mother has the downstairs, I have the upstairs. I pay rent, utilities.. etc etc. Sure would be nice if it was a free ride! haha. I'm 21 years old, and boy has this been a learning experience, let me tell ya! *grin)
annoyed by picture postings? If they don't like it they don't have to look! I love it, I'd love it if everyone would post pictures. I'd love it if I knew what I was doing and could post some of my own. I just need to get my very busy husband to show me what to do (one of these days!)
By the way, Bless you for giving Scooter a loving home. No animal deserves to be treated like that.
My unruly love of dogs, is going to be the death of me.. as my moms says. haha. I just get so, hurt and emotional when I see a neglected animal, but especially a dog. I think it's because they were meant to be "mans best friend" and some people treat them like dirt. There's a commercial that says.. "There's nothing more real, than dogs." and it's so true. Mine live for their belly rubs and kisses from momma. I just don't get it.
I am so glad you took that poor little baby and he will have a good home. Everyone knows how I love schnauzers. I love all animals but I am really parcel to schnauzers. Someone ought to use a broom handle on that jerk. He really needs to be breeding dogs doesn't he? Needs to be locked up. THat baby will look so different once he is bathed and he gets his schnauzer cut. THey can look a little scruffy when they grow out. THey do look like different dogs when groomed. All your babies are cute.
YAY so glad you took him in. I think its great that your mom is going to take him in too. I think its incredible how they have bonded all ready. I still can and will never believe and fathom how people could be so cruel.
uh, how could we EVER get annoyed by cute pictures? :-) Thanks for sharing!
