All dogs are products of the humans, and the errors of their (humans) ways leads them to the mentality they have and the way they have been manhandled. All dogs CAN and sometimes WILL attack, no matter if it is a chow or a mastiff. Everyone needs to deal with the fact that their dog, no matter what breed, can snap at an time if handled improperly and trained improperly. Stop bringing up topics about APBT and making them look so bad. Look at the rules before you post!!!!
The third rule listed: NO "Breeder/Breeding Bashing" This sould include breed bashing also.
A NOTE TO EVERYONE: Your dog has the ability to attack, whether it is a human or another dog. This comes with the responsibility of owning a dog, NO MATTER WHAT BREED!
Had 2 beautiful pit mixes that I recently had to put down..Hooch was 16 1/2 and his "puppy" Dixie was 15. They were the most wonderful sweet natured dogs anyone could ever want.(even the Dobes loved them) Scary looking, but all my friends fell in love with them. The only heartbreak they caused me was the day I had to put them down....

scenicvalesiberians I agree with you and a great link that you posted. The truth is that if people did not discuss it then you would not have the opportunity to try and educate them on how they have been miss informed. It is very upsetting to pit owners to have to defend there dogs all the time but we need to educate and show a positive pit bull to the public. That is where it starts and it is done one person at a time. There will always be ignorance but the truth is even if you have a well trained dog that only decreases your chance of having control of it and it not biting. But a dog will be a dog and even the most well trained dog has animal tendencies and has the potential to bite. That is what most people do not get and forget. No matter what breed or what training they have they are just dogs not people. You have to take all the precautions of owning a dog and give it plenty of exercise, training and guideance but always remember no matter what its a dog and like people they too have bad days. The point to get across is agression is not breed specific its dog specific.
I have been wondering if with all the fuss about dog bites/attacks if anyone has ever done a study on how many dogs people have in this world. I'm sure there is a very high ratio of good/non aggressive dogs to bad/aggressive dogs. Seems like the media etc. likes to focus on the negative stuff out there (gets everyone fired up!)
well to bring up something great about pitbulls i was watching an animal show the other day and seen this and i think everyone who has something to say bad about pitbulls should have watched it. i have never had one but i know it is irresposible owners not the dogs. well this man wanted a pitbull and his wife was very reluctant since they had 3 small kids and she had heard all these terrible things about them but she decided to go ahead and get one b/c she had a friend who was a vet and she told her they were very good dogs. they got the dog and she constantly watched him around her children. one day her kids were outside playing and she let the dog out with them (this was after the dog was older). he immediatley started barking like crazy at their grill b/c he found a rattlesnake. anyways to make a long story short the dog jumped infront of the mom to save her from being bitten by the snake. the dog got bit 2 times but was ok. i though that was a great story it just goes to show that any animal can be a great pet if it has been treated right and taught well. i just thought you guys would like to here that story. sorry it is so long.
couldn't agree with you more about pit bulls. this is the main reason i let everyone know about what teacup did to me last week.(biting] yes we do need to be educated on all dogs not just pits. i have said this before its not just big dogs these little dogs can be something else too. but a lot of dogs owners dont want to talk about it b/c they think awww.. he so cute he just bit me,and think nothing of it but if its a pit who bit someone they're ready to put him down.twice i have been bitting by my chi/ where's he drew blood.yes i did admit its my fault do to my spoiling him and not property training him.everything is changing now. i have taken advice from the members on this forum and using a different approach with him and its working. no more goo goo teacup awwww...mommy cutie pie. kiss kiss. just letting him do whatever..etc.. sorry had to get it out. so back of the pits. we can talk about these little devils that noone wants to admit to... lmao... i can admit and say i'm sorry when i say something wrong to someone on here and tell what teacup is doing wrong ...dont have a problem with it at all... geeee wiz!! guess what i dont even OWN A PIT...but i will defend them b/c they are someone baby.
