Our Chi is 10 weeks old, and she LOVES to be in the spa with the kids, she whines to get in there, and they let her swim one time from one to the other then take her out...no jets are on, not heat either...then she runs around the backyard like a crazy woman, it's really funny, but I have heard that they (Chi's) have very sensitive ears when it comes to water...was wondering if anyone has a Chi who swims alot and how do the ears hold up when exposed to the water? I don't want her to get used to swimming if it's going to be a problem with her ears. But I live in AZ., it's going to be 115 today and a nice little swim every now again would be a nice treat for her!!
Clean them with something called R-7 every few days, you can even put a little bit of cotton in the ears. My dog is a breed in which ears are cropped, so he prefers to swim if he has cotton in the ears.
Mix 1/2 cup of warm water and squeeze the juice of half a small lemon into the water. Take a few good drops and put them into your dogs ear and massage. Let the dog shake its head, then with a cotton ball dab the ear. Just to get any excess water. Don't rub the ear.
