I have someone in Canada who is interested in one of my puppies. The puppy would be shipped to Buffalo, New York Airport where they would pick him up and drive back into Canada. Other than the health certificate that he would have anyhow for flying, is there anything else he would need? Does anybody know where I could find out? Thank you!
I have sold a couple of pups to people in Canada and they picked them up in Buffalo. It was the normal shipping procedure for me, tho I did have to use AA, as continental does not go to Buffalo. I sent the puppy with a health certificate, as usual. The people do have to pay a customs fee on the dog as they go back into canada tho, and one of the border guards did call me once to see what the purchase price of the puppy was. I guess the new owners couldn't remember what they paid for the puppy. So, it might be good to enclose a bill of sale with the health certificate that you give to the airlines. I usually mail all that stuff previous to the pups shipping, but now I do enclose a copy of it with the health certificate. Hope this helps some.
Thank you to all who replied. The info has been helpful.
CeCe- Thanks for mentioning the airlines because Continental is exactly who I would've tried to go with first but now I know not to even bother. Also would not have thought to enclose a receipt as I normally would have just emailed one.
I asked the lady weren't there any dachshund breeders in Canada or at least close to the line so they could just drive to pick it up and I even offered to help her find a breeder there and she said "I prefer one of yours". I tell you, that makes you feel good!!!
