Dear OscarsMommie, I know you have great experience and knowledge of dogs, I have come to you to answer this question. I havea red, male Chihuahua that is 11 weeks old, and weighs one pound. I take him out for a walk every day at noon. But, there is one slight problem. He will walk a few steps then sit down. He wont walk but a few feet from the door. How do I get Tiny Red to walk with me? Thanks a lot, LindyLou
Dear Supermommy, Thank you for your reply. Yes, I will be letting him rest. I should have thought of that earlier. He is laying on a pile of my clothes right now, wathcing me type away. lol Thanks a bunch, LindyLou
Walking alittle in the sumshine ** Not Heat though ** would probabally be good for him. Even if he does walk a few steps then sits down. What medacine is he on? Take him , set him on the ground, or grass and call him. Maybe get down too his level. When my puppy Lillei was that small she too wouldnt walk far. Remember his legs are only tiny, so one step of yours might be 10 of his.. plus it's a big world out there. My little puppy now 13 weeks and 1.5 pounds loves the grass & outside. She gets so exited.
Probabally a puppy shouldnt be with it's litter mates at 11 weeks. It is better for the pup & the littermates for each to start exploring on their own. Even show breeders do this at about 9 - 10 weeks, to make the puppy independant with it's own personality.
