Let me know what you think of her. This is my female Mona and I think she is a perfect toy poodle but she is my first. Excuse her hair she has not been to the groomers in a few weeks... I am in the market for a male...
Icyhound she does have a tiny bit of white on her throat that you can only see when its shaved. Its about the size of my pointer finger, finger print. I will get better pictures when she gets back from the groomer. She just got done playing in the sprinklers when I took that picture and her hair looks all a mess. Her dad is a white toy CH but her mom is not. She is black. I want to learn about the poodle colors and what bred to what makes what.... I will go through my pictures and see if I can find one with her hair shaved.
She is cute. I am not a poodle expert, but here is my advice. I would take formal stacked pictures of her, and get them to her Sire's owner-- who should know the history behind the pedigree and be the best one to assess her positive qualities along with her faults. Let them evaluate her and recommend the best stud that they feel will be her match. Have them explain what they are seeing in her and why X male will be best.
That is what I would do. I mean even if there is an expert on her (which there probably is) chances are they don't know enough about extended pedigree to make an accurate recommendation. JMO.
I will get better pics of her soon. I dont know if this helps but her dad is CH STeppin into the Blues and her mom is Darque Eye Angel. Maybe if you know poodles it will help??? Thanks for all the advice...
I am not an expert, more of an admirer and a fellow toy poodle owner. I am still learning alot but here is my opinion...
I agree that the cut doesn't give her form any justice. It looks like her back is curving downward because of the condition her coat is in. Work on getting her to stack the best you can for a profile shot.
She is cute from what I can see though. I can't really make out her features as well as I would like to, although I know taking pictures of a black dog is a hard task.
Next time try taking her outdoors in bright natural light. Flash messes up the eyes too, and in poodles eyes play a big part.

Utopia, Just wanted to tell you I am no poodle expert either but I have shi poo, these two could be cousins they look a lot a like for she more poodle than shih. I think she is one of the most gorgeous little girl right next to my little girl.
She looks like a nice girl.. :) Pics are so hard to go by, there are some things I see in the pics that if I walked her and stacked her I maybe wouldn't see..
The thing to remember when breeding you are looking to correct any faults she may have. For instance if a bitch has a thick muzzle you breed her to a male with a correct muzzle. Some people make the mistake of trying to breed to a male with a tiny muzzle trying to correct the problem.. What happens with this is you get pups with thick or tiny muzzles.. Make sense??
Are her feet nice and tight, does she toe in or out when standing, is she hocky, how is her topline, her bite, chest? etc
Here is a picture of my Biscuit. She is I believe around 5 or 6 months in the picture.. She is a nice girl, but her legs are a little short for my liking, and her body a little long and thick in the loin. She's pretty heavy boned too! And her tail set is a little low. She does have a nice topline, but not in this picture.
Shes really improved with age, she's more tucked in the loin as she got older and her legs are a little longer but she still has her faults..
Luvstalmen Thanks I will get her groomed and take better pictures of her. She does look funny in those pictures because she is about 90% hair. She hates to be groomed. She does have tight feet and a great bite but never paid attention to anything else. Even if I did not sure what to look for. I will see if I have some pics of her that her coat is groomed. She may be one of the worst built poodles around but I would still think she is the most beautiful. LOL I did not buy her for breeding but for a pet. She was actually for my mom but bonded with me so she is mine. I am not planning on breeding her just wanted opinions of people who own poodles. I have not studied poodles or what a good show poodle is. I think she is beautiful and wanted a opinion of someone that was not bias. I am in the market for a male but not for me but a gift for my mom. The only reason I said male is because she has always wanted a poodle named Prestin. It could be a female for her too. It doesnt matter but I do want to make sure what I buy her is a correct poodle jsut because I know she will show the pup off to everyone.
Without a proper stack a critique is hap hazzard at best.
Her loin seems a little long, without a sight on the tail, I cannot tell what the tail set is.
Her front feet are toed out, but that could change because if she is young and her ribcage has not sprung out yet and brought them back into a straight look. If she is already grown, then she might be toed out on the front. How old is she?
Her back feet look a little toed out. I don't know if that was because she was on a slippery surface or if she is going cow-hocked.
Again, a good stack on a non-slip surface would be more revealing.
The mark on her chest: She is not a solid colored poodles. She is what is called "Abstract"
All poodles must have solid colors in hair and at the skin. She has a small blot of white on the throat and at the breastbone, it looks like. This dis-qualifies her from any AKC conformation event. She can show conformation in the UKC venue though.
Please, review this critique in the state that it is. Without hands on, a good stack on a non-slip surface and angles from all around, it is near impossible to make a comment that could be even close.
