As i have said we have two labs.Jazmine and Journey. My husband and i live in a small town in Montana.Yesterday we went to pick up another lab puppy,my husband uses them to hunt with.Pheonix is black both the girls are yellow. When we returned home we got all the introductions done and they did well.We were on our way out to play with the dogs,my husband had his bird on a stick lol to play with pheonix.Jazmine my husband and pheonix all went out on deck and down the stairs. The phone rang i answered it,ppfft tellamarketers.I slid the glass door open and said to journey come on girl lets go play with daddy. She headed out but stoped.Looked at me and wined. To back this up a little i suffer from epilepsy.Well i dont suffer but i do have seizures. At that moment Journey jumped up on me (all 100 lbs of me) and "pushed me"back with her paws i guess i fell and had a seizure and she stayed right there with me the whole time my husband came running to help. She wouldnt move either. When i woke up that is right where she was.I could have fallen down the deck stairs and broke something or worse.I guess she could tell i was gonna have one.She is only 10 months old.I just thought it was a nice story to share with you all.
That is awesome! I have heard many stories where the dog can sense that there is a problem and is able to be there and protect their owner. I have even read a book where there was man who was severely epileptic and had a service dog. His dog was able to protect him in many situations by warning him of a seizure. They are truly amazing creatures, our furry friends! I am glad you are doing better!
Wow thats amazing. its so cool and well I cant get over it. My moms dog saw her have one and wouldnt get close to her for almost a month.
not to get into your business but what kind of seasures do you have? My mom has them. A long time go she was having them and it was like she passed out almost. But now she shakes real bad and her hands clomp shut, usualy on her leg giving her alot of bruses) her whole body stiffens, she turns blue, and foams at the mouth. then I know a girl who has them and she can talk to you some what but her feet curl real bad and all her muccles go stiff making her almost twist. Then A guy we know has walking ones were he will wonder around almost like hes sleep walking. He gives little plamplets to everyone around him that way if they see him having on they will walk with him to make sure he does not go to far or get hurt or something.
What a great relationship you two must have! I have heard of dogs being able to detect things like that. Hope you are doing ok today. I have a cousin who was DX with that and right now she is very nervous about it and quite upset but I know she will get thru this and learn how to cope with it. I also had a brother with it. Take care and give Journey lots of hugs and kisses!
I just love this site!!!Thank you all for the comments.I have what used to be called grand-mal seizures.I loose conciousness become stiff, rigid, shake, bang my head and my arms and legs flail,I also have the petite-mal where i just stare into space.I am on medication and all but about once a month i go through a phase where i will have one maybe two.Journey deffinately did get a lot of lovin and praises and she acted like she knew she did a good thing. She was quite proud of her as my husband and i are very proud of her.
