We have spoiled ours so bad that everytime we come in from anywhere they expect a treat. When we go to the grocery store and come home they sit and wait and Mandy talks her schnauzer talk until they are given their treats. Saturday mornings they wake hubby up because they want treats. So, yes, ours certainly know when we have treats. lol!!
It doesnt even have to be treats... ivy know when im opening a bag of something that isnt hers but she likes it... she will wake up out of bed and come to see if what she heard was true... then she does the puppy dog face and u cant help big give her a piece! lol
we were over at lovesschnauzers the other day, she has her dogs walk for treats. Tsion knows he has to sit for his. As soon as he sees the treat he plops his butt down fast. She kept trying to get him to walk. It was not happening. He knows, you sit for the treat. I dont even have to say sit. Just show him the treat. Tsinna on the other hand, has to be pushed into a sitting position!
Yes, they definitely know when treats are around!! Especially every Christmas, they each have their own stockings hung up by the fireplace and we stuff each of them with tons of treats, toys..etc. They're always sitting next to the fireplace with their heads just staring up at their stockings. It's pretty cute.
Also, when I was little I'd eat all of my dogs' treats in front of them, and they'd sit there and beg. lol. I was a strange kid that's for sure.
Yes, Cody knows when we have treats for him and he also knows where the treats are kept. If he wants a treat and we aren't getting ready to give him one he will come and get us, take us to where they are in the kitchen and then he will stare at us like "ok, you are here so give me a treat" and if that doesn't work he will start his routine, he sits, then plops down and gives us those big sad puppy eyes and still if that doesn't work he will sit then sit pretty and if still no treats he will dance for us. It really is funny to watch, he tries so hard and he knows what gets him treats. I am afraid that one day he is going to get tired of trying to get our attention to give him a treat that he will teach himself how to get the lids off the containers and get his own! Dogs are so much FUN !
Pretty much the only time Magnum gets treats is for coming when called. However, he'll only come when called if he knows you have treats (actually, cheese). In fact, you don't even have to call him. If he knows you have "cheeses," he'll just keep checking back with you to see if maybe you wanna give him one. This comes in real handy when I have him off-leash on our land. Even though he's a hound (Basenji), he'll break off from whatever he's doing, frequently, to come back and see if you're ready to give him a treat yet. And if you call his name...good gosh, be ready to get bowled over! He knows he gonna get cheeses!
I know some call it bribery, but, hey, it works for us. I like to consider it a reward for good behavior.

Oh Yeah picked Buster up a new box of treats last night called Apetizers or something. Any how, Spelt that bag before I even put it down and was ready and waiting. After giving him one he was hocked. I was sitting on the sofa later on last night and he comes up and sites next to me and gives me this look like.... "well" I said what's up Buster.... "I could go for another treat" was trhe look I gotm, I got up and headed for the kitchen he beat me there and aat by the box of new treats!! Then I knew exactly what he wanted.
Beulah knows the beginning of the phrase.... You say.. "Do you want .....?" and she is already in the kitchen!!! It doesn't matter if you are gonna say "treat" or "walk" or "go outside" the kitchen is on the way to all three, and she'd take any of the above!
Of course, she stalls by the treat cupboard to see if that is what you are referring to, if not, she'll continue to the front door. I think she sits there and listens to me talk, waiting for the phrase "do you want..." to begin.
Yes, they sure do. Whenever I bring any bags home, Merphy must search through them. He seems to think that whenever I go away, I must bring him back something. He gets this heartbreaking look in his eyes when he doesn't find anything for him, however there usually is something for his spoiled highness.
Milo is catching on. They both got groomed today, and I left them there a little longer because we were setting up for my baby brothers wedding reception tonight. By the time I brought them home, they were both so excited and running around. I bought Milo a new collar today and my mom was trying to see it, but he wouldn't stop running for even a second. All I said was "Mom, you need to get a T-R-E-A-T!" and I immediately had two dogs at my feet sitting pretty. So, mine can apparently spell too.
Merphy is really bad. My bed is pretty high (up to my hip), but he can still jump up on it usually. Whenever I try to get him to get up on the bed, he'll look at the bed, then looks over at the treat jar on my dresser, and then look at me and sits there, waiting patiently for his treat. As soon as I get a treat out, he'll jump up.
