Maybe don't put the crate in your room at night unless he is good. Other wise you still won't get any sleep. I would put the crate in a different room and leave the tv on. You can also cover it, I think that's a great idea.
Oh Jimmy is going to throw a tantrum ya know! He'll still bark when people walk by the door. Dogs are very sensitive to outsiders even if they're in a crate. But if you want him in the crate be very persistant and let him know that your the boss and thats the way its going to be.
Nap can hear a car pull up in the yard with the TV on, boys wrestling and him in the crate. He'll alert us to any little change in the yard even if he's in the house.
I thought you had planned on making Jimmy his own room at one time?
