I have 2 french bulldog puppies that are 9 days old and I haven't seen them poo in a day and half. What can I use to loosen them up. The mother is stimulating them to pee but they aren't doing anything else. They are still eating and active but I don't want to wait too long. You help is appreciated.
I took them to my vet last night, he gave them some cooking oil. It has yet to work and that has been since 9:00 Monday night. I called him this morning and he said it would work to give it time and don't give anymore. The momma licks them pretty good especially to p they are only on her milk. Any suggestions?

Have you tried stimulating them? I read that if you take a cotton ball and moisten it with warm water and gently rub around the anus it should make them go. I know that's what mom is supposed to do... but maybe she's not doing it long enough?
I've also read that a little karo syrup could help (that's what we did for my son come to think of it)... but I have no idea how much....
are you sure your not just missing it? I mean you can't be there 24/7.. I guess if I was really worried about it, I would wait till they nurse the next time and after they are done or most of the way done I would use a warm wash cloth on their little behinds and see if I get anything.
It's easy to miss when she is washing them, may look like she is just getting urine when she is actually getting both.
I am not missing it. I had one quit eating, then his sugar got low so I had to take him for a shot of dextrose under the skin, he is still not eating so now I am tube feeding him. Now I have to really worry about constipation and low sugar level. They are 2 weeks old today. Worried he won't make it, but I am trying everything I know.
