my 2 month chihuahua puppy sleeps the majority of the day, as much as i attempt to occupy his day with activities so he wont sleep through the entire day, he still sleeps allot!. This is where my dilema comes in. my baby likes to wake up at 12:00 midnight, 3:00am, 6:00am and is up and at em by 9. Most of the time he wakes up to go to the bathroom so i remove him from his kennel and take him to do his business, but other times he wakes up and just wants to play!. So what i would like to know would be how much longer until he will be able to be active for most of the day, and how much longer until he will be able to sleep through an entire night? please help!!! in dire need of sleep! Mony

Have you considered covering the kennel at night with a blanket, sheet, towel, or something else??? I found this worked wonderfully with my little guy. The other thing you might try is a clock that ticks on or near his kennel. Something about the ticking noise is soothing to a puppy. You might also look at putting a chew toy in his kennel with him at night (my vet recommended this....). I promise it does get better, just give it a little time. Good luck.
Um... I have similar situation but I'm not sure if it could work for you... my 3month old yorkie wakes up in the middle of the night too to go to the washroom. After he does his business he would start whining to get our attention, but we would totally ignore him, and after a few moments he would fall alseep because he knows no one would play with him nor give attention. Maybe you can try that? O, btw, he runs loose in the house so he goes to the washroom by himself and his bed is right beside mine. So if he wants to play he can run around the house and sleep when he's tired.
i put both my puppies to bed when i go to bed, bentley sleeps with us ( hes a year tomororw) and daisy sleeps in her play pen in our room ( shes 3 1/2 months) bentley sleeps threw the night and has since we got him, daisy wakes me up at 6 am every morning to go potty, its like clock work. And we just stay up because i have to get my kids and husband off to work with in a half hour anyways. I have been very lucky with daisy sleeping threw the night. right now daisy is up and bentley is still sleeping he sleeps longer then daisy. a few nights ago she was whining and wanting out when i put her to bed this is the first time shes done this and i just let her whine and she went right to bed. SHe knows when she goes in her playpen its bed time. she doesnt go in there any other time but at night. guess ive been lucky..
