my dog kato .. there is something wrong with him he plays alot really friendly to kids and family but when strangers come around he wont bark at all i dont think he is a good watch dog .... what can i do
Pitbulls aren't a "barking" kind of dog. Which doesn't mean they're not alert and and keen on protecting the home. That's one of the reasons why I love Pitbulls. They don't bark just for the sake of barking.
You sound like you have a great dog. i used to have a pitt he was deaf but he would bark if he saw a person in our yard. one day he was out at night (we had people over with little kids 2,3 he tryed to jump on them) someone tryed to get in our sliding glass door. he and amber our rottie went after him. they got his leg and amber got his ankle. he jumped th fence before they could do any more. there is nothing wrong with you dog he is just waiting to act he sounds great.
Aren't Pit Bulls an awesome dog? We love ours to death, she actually belongs to my son and is the most loving dog we have ever had.
She is not a barker, I take that back, she does bark at the wild turkeys that strut their stuff right up to the house windows, but other than that, you rarely hear her.
Kesha loves nothing better than to lay on the couch with us and be told how beautiful she is.
The only time we have witnessed any nearly aggressive type behaviour (and I wouldn't call it bad behaviour) is when a guest was leaving and bent down over the chair to kiss my Mom on the forehead. Kesha must have taken that as her cue to step in and be the protector. She quickly moved in between the guest and my Mom and would not budge. Guess she didn't want anyone kissing her Mom.
Learn about the breed, they are a wonderful dog. Don't worry about her not being aggressive, that is not what you have a pet for. You should invite them to be a part of your family, a 4 legged member and you wouldn't expect a family member to be aggressive, would you?
Do you have any pictures of your puppy? I'd love to see her.
I have a little chihuahua (I know it's not the same breed but go with it) and she would never bark she is a very good dog and then there was a guy that smashed in our sliding glass door and then she just went nuts and now we cant get her to shut up. she barks at everything now and it's becoming a real problem. so be careful of what you wish for because it might not want it anymore. I say if you should be loving the dog that you have for being that way and not wishing for her to be better at something just be happy with what you got.
Your pit bull is showing intellligence by not annoying the general neighborhood. don't worry I had a Alaskan Malamute x and malamutts(as I affectionately call them) do not bark at all they "talk" by "roorooooing" and talk to their people and when we had an intruder that tried to get into my stepdads room on a ladder my lil(120lb)"rooooorooooing"Malamute climbed up that ladder right after him(without being seen apparently) and blew warm doggy breath up the guys butt and gave him the Bigggggest toothy smile when the guy turned around to look(my 'mutt was Black and white with bright micah-gold eyes that glowed in the dark with a bit of light shown) I'm tellin you that boy got Religion!!!!!!! and apparently had the hidden talent of flying! cos he flew over our 7 ft fence as my mutt was corncobbing his leg!
