Okay, so my 'theory' was that if people didn't buy puppies from pet stores, that they would close and go away. It happened in our largest close city Kalamazoo. We didn't have a pet shop that sold puppies for about the last 10 years since the one closed at the mall.
So, I am driving down the main drag if this city and I see a HUGE sign.... Many puppies for sale...... from reputable breeders (no less)!!!!
I am very disappointed that one of these places are back in town. Is there anything to do to educate the public so they don't go there for a puppy?
If I didn't have my kids and hubby with me, I kind of wanted to snoop around and ask the employees questions about the puppies to see what they say.
I think, from what I have read on other forums and this one that it is pretty common practice for employees to not be truthful about things like size, hypoallergenic, shedding a such. Not to mention where they come from....
I have a local pet store near me in Ohio that my gf's family member works at and yuo can drop off puppys, say what they are with no proof or reg. and the store ill resell the for 800+..... i couldnt belive people were this oh say dumb?
Starfish, where in Ohio are you from? I live in Canton, Ohio, the Football Hall of Fame town. We have a store in Massillon, Ohio that sells all kinds of animals and I have always wanted to go in there and check things out but in my heart I know it can not be a good thing and then I would want to bring all the pups and kittens home and I would have to leave and feel helpless cause I couldn't bring them all home, maybe someday I will be able to go in and see.
