My husband and I just bought the cutest Shitzu puppy last Sunday and we are picking up a Yorkie tonight. My question is, is it okay to have both of them in the same crate? This is a pretty big crate, it is tall and wide. The reason we decided on two pupies instead of one, was because we tend to work long hours and we did not want the puppy to be by itself so long. So we thought that by having two puppies they would be able to entertain themselves. These two puppies were also living in the same area for a while when in the pet store, so they already know each other.
How old are the puppys? Do you and your husband come home during the day? If not, do you have someone who can come out and let the dogs out? The bathroom issue will be a big thing. I would also be concerned about aggression between the 2 if crated together and no one is home.
IMHO getting 2 puppys whether or not siblings is a mistake. You may experience bonding and obedience issues besides other problems. Per your thread I understand that you purchased these from a pet store. (That's a different topic for anohter time) But all reputable breeders I know would never sell 2 puppy siblings to an individual owner.
I like him a lot better than I like most people. To you he's a dog. TO me he's an adopted son who is short, hairy, walks on all fours and doesn't speak clearly. I have no problem with any of these. <
