I just spent the last two days cleaning my house. I quit smoking and I can't hold still. I have two cats and a dog. I love them all dearly but I have been having fantasies of shaving them bald!! I have a new bagless vacuum and I emptied it countless times! The, when finally my house is detailed clean, I come into the living room to find all three of them playing leaving clumps of black and white fur all over the floor! Also, with a white cat, a black cat and a black dog no matter what I wear you can see the fur on it. I love my babies and wouldn't give them up for the world, but is it too much to ask to take one day off from shedding? Thanks for listening to me bitch.
Thank you!! I feel really good about it. I tried cold turkey, but I couldn't believe the withdrawal symptoms! Once I got the patches it has been smooth sailing, except at night watching TV. Last night my mom told me to do something else. I said "Are you kidding? It's Ugly Betty, Grey's Anatomy and ER night!" So I just toughed it out. After smoking for 26 years I'm surprised at how easy it has been. I think I was just really ready to quit. Thanks for the encouragement.
I have no clue how I managed to do it without other people being harmed or killed or my marriage crumbling lol. I know that before, whenever I'd try to quit, I just remember being miserable and mean to everyone. I remember feeling lost and agitated and eventually I'd just quit quitting.
I think the difference was that I'd hit a point where I was so sick of being sick all of the time (pneumonia 3 times in one year, sucks ass, lemme tell ya!) and I was just done.
I read this great book, too...and I don't know why, but it really seemed to help me. If you get a chance, I highly recommend you pick it up and give it a read. I hauled it around with me the entire first month I think, hehe. I also knitted a lot, I think my first month I whipped up like 8 pairs of socks in addition to an afghan, LOL!!
It's called "The Easy Way to Stop Smoking" by Allen Carr, who quit smoking after 30 years at five packs a day. I figured if someone like that could do it, then heck, he must be worth a read, heh.
Again, grats to you!
Wish I could help with the hair thing, but maybe you need it to keep you busy, hehe.
Congratulations on quitting smoking! Nasty habit. I have never smoked, and can't tolerate smoke. As for hair, you can do what I do...ignore it! You don't have to look too hard to find hairballs around my house! I have 1 dog and 2 cats in the house all the time. Plus, we have a few outside cats that spend a good deal of time inside. It's a full-time job just scooping out litter pans, lol!
More Congrats on the no smoking. I quit 7 years ago. I can't even be around smoke now without getting all stuffed up, like I'm allergic to it. Went to a reunion recently and all my old girlfriends still smoke. Couldn't believe I was the only one who had quit.
On the hair issue: 2 dogs, both hubby and I have allergies, vacuum daily, and it sucks ( no pun intended).
Congrats on quitting! I have grandma who is still struggling with cancer form smoking for so long.as a teen, seeing my family members get sick from it is very tough.I have an uncle with infazima (sp) and two grnadpas that died and a friend with cancer also.So I love ot see people quit!
On the hair problem.i have to ask what food are they on? If you get them on a GOOD food it will help with shedding. Also a shedding rake is VERY helpful! Fish oil capsules for humans are great, just pour it on the food.Flaxseed is great also.A teaspoon or so on the food is great! Also in the pet section at walmart there is a bottle of omega oils and stuff, its carob flavored and it works to.
hope this helps, Cocker
Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game!
