a family member recentley got a 6 week old boxer. It is very tiny compared to most its age. Its about nine weeks old now. she is about the size of a full grown pomeranian. Are some boxers just small. she seems healthy.
Well, purebred boxers of different qualities can be different sizes. I just got a call from someone looking at one of my puppies and she said the other puppy she was interested in had a mother 45 pounds and a father 50 pounds. It is likely that puppy will grow up to be a small boxer. Others can go way the other way.
I have had smaller puppies that were 'runty' from being shoved out of a large litter or they just weren't aggressive eaters. They generally turn out nearly as large as thier littermates.
Depending on weight a 9 week old puppy should be around the size of a grown pom. Boxers are NOT very large dogs, they are more medium sized average weighs are 50-75 pounds.
Six weeks is a lot younger than the puppy should have left the breeder.
Boxers are like cookies you can't have just one :)
