My 6 month old cocker spaniel female has to urinate every 1-2 hours. She was tested for UTI and did not have one. Is this normal? The vet is saying she may have an anomaly and we should take her to vet school for workup - very expensive. Has anyone had this problem, do you think meds would work. She has been spayed and think lack of estrogen could cause this? Thanks
It sounds normal. You have to watch your pup for the actions it does like walking in a circle before it pee's. Stop the dog with an abrupt NO NO NO, whilst picking the pup up and taking it where it should go potty, leash it, and tell it go pee pee or whatever words you use. Give a tiny treat each time it listens. Don't bring the pup back in until it goes. They can have to go hourly. So when you can not watch it, put it in an expen.
Person selling your dog, that is not allowed on this forum. People generally don't get the price they paid for a pup for an older dog too. Offer it on Craigslist for an adoption fee. Lower you price, there are thousands of dogs to choose from. People can move on to the next.
Whoever said you can't buy happiness, must have never owned a dog!!!!!!!!!!!
My Pocahontas is still urinating every 1-2 hours, Sometimes it is 45 minutes and she does let us know she has to go out. We have done all the stuff that is the norm for housebreaking and still she has to urinate frequently. Would like to avoid taking her to vet school for workup since it will be $$$ thousands of $$$. Anybody have any ideas, taking her to vet today to be tested again for UTI.
Please have the specific gravity test done on your dog. I waited too long and lost my dog to liver and kidney failure. It could have been found so much sooner and many dogs respond to special diets that extends there life (with quality) up to two years. Please don't make the same mistake I did!!!!!!!!!
