I got two rolls ($50) of the things last week. They look like arcade tokens! Most cashiers I tried to pawn these things off on looked unhappy about it. "In God We Trust", the date, "E Pluribus Unum" and the mintmark are all now on the edge of the coin.
The SBA failed, so did the Sacagawea-- we need to get rid of the dollar bill and crank out more $2.00 bills if these new dollar coins are going to make it.
Yes, we got a roll of the $1 coins, also. Haven't tried to use one, yet. It's funny how with the last $1 coins, so many people (ie: cashiers) thought they were quarters! You just don't see them too often, and people don't pay attention.
My husband and I keep several "change buckets" around the house. I keep a large one in the utility room and put all the change that ends up in the bottom of the washer or dryer, money found in pants pockets, change from the sofa or in the floorboard of the car, etc. We made a vow a long time ago to never dip into it and let it grow. Every year we cash in it and use that money for vacation spending. Last year we cashed in $800 in change. Yahoo! It really adds up!
