I have a 9 month old lab mix puppy who is experiencing excessive thirst. If we put a bowl of water down she will drink untill the whole bowl is gone. I don't want her to get dehydrated, but at the same time I don't want to get overloaded. She has been to the vet for this and they said that her kidneys are fine. Any advice would be helpful.
Has she had any blood work done for diabetes- and just for the record, they told me our Brandy's kidneys were fine as well, did x-rays etc.. I feel that this type of kidney failure may differ from the average form of failure, more hidden. Thirst, diarhea, vomiting, and weak/tired are the first signs, then comes the soiling and discomfort while soiling. Watch for these signs and do not let it get beyond that before demanding she be checked for possible kidney failure! We did not know of the food recall at the time, had we been aware, we would have demanded she be checked and even treated for failure, we would still have her here with us today had we known. Love and hugs Karen
