We bought our boston terrier a week ago from a pet shop, she seemed fine, about three days ago, she started picking up her rear left leg and hopping to where she needed to go. we thought maybe she hurt it. the next day she started doing this to all of her legs. We took her to the vet, he checked her out and she didn't wimper at when he examined all of her legs and spine so she must not be in any pain. He thinks she will have to go to a neurologists.. Does anybody know what this could be??? Please help
Alot of dogs that are in pain won't cry at the vet. Did they check her knees? Often with the small breeds they have bad knees and can easiley be corrected by surgery. If it was is only one leg and no other signs, it could very well be a luxating platella, (a knee cap that doesn't fit). I would get a second opinion first.
It is better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all.
I have recently took puppies to pet shop later to find out they both had heart murmurs and the pet shop still sold them for alot of money be very careful when buying a puppy from there they usually have a leway like 10days to get them vet checked even though they have been by a vet through the pet shop doesnot mean they are healthy. very concerned for you little one so sorry to hear about his legs hoping its just something that will pass. thank you kelly wise
Sorry to sound cold, but I would return the puppy to the pet shop. And if you put it on a credit card I would take full advantage of the buyer protection. Sounds like this pup has serious issues. Luxating Patella's are very common in this breed. It can range from $600 to $1200 per leg. Also deafness is very high in this breed. Buying a puppy from a pet store is a very bad idea. If it is a nurological problem, it could be ataxia. Which I hate to say if fatal. You really need to get the pup back to the pet store ASAP. Then if you still want a dog seek out a reputable breeder.
He's your friend, your partner, your defender your dog.You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours faithful and true to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to worthy of such devotion
Poor little puppy. This is why you don't buy dogs at pet stores. You should do all you can for this puppy and learn from your mistake. Who knows what will happen to the puppy if you take it back to the pet store (it might end up in the garbage).
Aww... ya the pet stores not so good to buy animals from... there always sick.... ummm check for.. Curvature of the back, which is called roaching, its sometimes caused by patella problems(knee cap) with the rear legs, which in turn causes the dog to lean forward onto the forelegs which causes a lot of pain on the legs.... Good luck!
