Alright, a friend of mine told me that.. if a female is in heat, and lets a dog hump her.. that she's not pregnant. It's when she fights the humping, that she's most likely knocked up. How true is this statement? I just found it a little odd. lol.
That is not exactly true, when a female is in heat they will let the male hump them and get hooked together thats is when you will know if there is possabiltly of pregnancy. If she is fighting it its because she is not in heat they that week.but will be soon.and they are not humping at that time.
A female dog has a very small amount of time that she is receptive to a male mounting her. Remember, mounting has other behavioral aspects. A female does not have to be pregnant to reject a males advances. Consider that ovulation is a very small window (we give it a week only because of the length of time semen lives) her window of reception is also short.
It is in no way an indicator of pregnancy.
female dogs also mount each other when no male is available. They are controlled by their hormones at this point.
On the best of days a dog is a dog, and on the worst of days a dog is a dog.
Question??? If my male is nuetered but female isnt- when she goes in heat will my male still try to hump her? will they hook? or connect or what ever it is? never ever have seen this before and kinda scared that it could happen. Being my male is neutered tho there is no chance she can get pregant. right?? I dont know what im going to do about daisy- the vet doesnt feel comfortable putting her under right now because of all the issues weve had with her and now her breathing has become a issue- will they still try and mate? will Daisy try and hump Bentley? I am not looking forward to all this if it does happen- what do you do to stop it?
Both my dogs are spayed/neutered and they hump eachother all the time. It can be embarrassing sometimes when guests come over, but if I yell, they stop. Its usually Mollie humpin Rocky, but in the odd case that Rocky is humping Mollie, they never tie. He looks like he wants to, but it never gets to that point.
I have witnessed a spayed female and an neutered male tie before. So yes it can happen. A neutered male can still breed an unspayed female for up to 48 hours after being neutered, after that the remaining sperm is dead. And no they can not get a female pregnant.
