Can anyone tell me the best way to worm my Aussie pups? I have always used Nemex with my Lab pups, then put them on Ivermectin Cattle Wormer. This has worked real well with me but not sure if this is what I needed to use on the Aussie Pups. Does anyone use Safeguard on their Aussie's? If so, how much do you give? How about Ivermectin? On the Labs, we use 1/10 cc per 10 lbs.
First of all I would never use cattle Ivermecin on dogs or puppies. If you over dose a dog or puppy on ivermectin you can cause deafness. I start deworming with Pryrantel Poamate at 3 weeks of age and then every other week until they go on there heartguard protection. But I only use products that are the correct dosage made specifically for dogs and puppies.

There have been a lot of people over the years who know the correct dosage for the injectable cattle Ivermectin to be used on dogs. When dosed right it is perfectly safe. If you purchase the Ivermectin and proplyne glycol from Revival Animal products they WILL give you the correct dosage.
I wouldn't give it to collies or any other breed that didn't tolerate Ivermectin though. I also rotate from Pyrantal Pamoate based wormers to the Fendbendazole, because worms can and do develop resistance if you use the same wormer for too long. I give ivermectin monthly during the spring, summer, fall months for heartworm preventative and I have never had a dog test positive yet, and I live in a State that has heartworms.
