I have a min pin who will be 1 next month and she hates being in her kennel. She goes potty in her kennel when we are gone at work during the day. I even come home at lunch and let her out. She has seperation anxiety really bad, she freaks out whenever we leave the house. I need help really bad, I don't want to get rid of her but if she continues we are going to have to.
I have a mini schnauzer who would not stay in a crate, well acutally neither one will, but our girl when we got her would potty in hers. We had our boy trained to go outside. WHat we finally did, was put puppy pads in the kitchen with a baby gate up, when she got the hang of using them, and it didn't take long, we started letting her have run of the house. She will be 2 in June and she uses puppy pad and never goes anywhere but on her pads. I wish she would go outside like Max, just so we could quit buying pads.
An easy suggestion is that sometimes when a cage is to large some dogs will mess in it, usually on a side they don't have to lay on, so you could try making it smaller by putting a divider in it.
*Also it is important to make sure it is not a medical condition or urinary infection
If this is not the case you may want to enroll her in doggy day care sounds fru fru but it really does help dogs that have seperation anxiety. (Our old neighbor would put her maltese in every friday and her dog really looked forward to going =) she also found an older retired woman who would spend time with her dog during the week while she was at work (it's a long shot but you might be able to find someone)
