I have a kitten at the house that looks to be about 5 weeks old that was dumped out in the woods by the house. What types of things should I get to get him started out? Should I mix his food with anything to soften it? Any info would be great.
Get him a good kitten food and soften it with water. You can also get him some kitten formula and mix it with the food. I would also offer him the formula in a bottle. He is still very young and needs the nursing. If he doesn't have something to suck on he will begin sucking on his tail or even your hair. Best to go ahead and bottle feed him for a couple more weeks. Be sure to get him a litter box for him to use. Good luck
Life isn't like a box of chocolates . . it's more like a jar of jalapenos.
I wanted to send out a thank you for the info. Milo- that's what we named him- is doing very well. He's eating great for me and has using his cat box. He is such a cuddler too, loves to cuddle right by my neck and sleep. He is going into the vet Tuesday morning to get checked out, I'll give up dates then.
I just still find it heart breaking that someone could just dump him off like a piece of trash, it's very sad how heartless some people are.
Milo went to the vet this morning, everything looks good. The vet thinks he's about 6 weeks old, so I was a little off. He's just so tiny it was hard to tell. He's been putting on weight since this weekend so that's a good thing.
Yeah, I fell in love with him so he is the new member of the family. The dogs love him to so that is an added bonus, they all have been getting along great and he doesn't seem scared of them at all. He is such a love, gives out kisses all the time and loves to cuddle. I know I've said that alot but I just can't get over how sweet he is. I couldn't be happier :)
