my son josh and his girlfriend live with her brother and his girlfriend. they have a large mobile home on property. they are all big animal lovers. harley ( gsd ) was getting so bad trying to go up and down the stairs here. sometimes he would fall down them. his hips have steadily gotten worse and with me being gone to my parents so much, i worried that he would fall and break his hip. i always went out with him and helped him with the stairs. quinn cant do it. he was always more joshs dog than anyones. he is doing great out there. there is only one very small step out their door. they fixed him a bed in their room and he gets alot more attention than he did here. i sure miss him, but i know he is better where he is now. its just weird to get up in the night and not trip over him . he always slept next to my bed and i usually had to step over him when i got up. josh has been giving him glucosemine/brewers yeast tablets to help with his joints. he even lets him trim his nails. he never let me do it. i miss him so much. sometimes we have to let go when we know its in the best interest of the animal. now he is with his best friend and will be able to live out his last days being happy. its just hard to not have him around. i didnt realize how much i would miss him...
If you are a dog and your owner suggests that you wear a sweater, suggest that he wear a tail.
oh my goodness my dear Dusty...I saw the title of this post 'Harleys gone' and saw it was your post and immeditely know it was your beautiful GSD. I thought he was "gone" ... as it looks like a few other members here did, too! Well..at least it is the better of the 2 forms of "gone"! my heart stopped when I first saw it.
It sounds like Harley will be able to live easier at your son's house, so try and think about that when you miss him. Know that YOU made his life easier by putting him in a home where he wont have to climb those steps anymore! And...he is loved as always, you know that. :) If you are able to...head on over for visits, too! You are such a good mommy to your babies...and I know for a fact that Harley will not forget that, even if he doesnt see you everday. Hang in there honey!!
