I wish I had a camcorder to record what my son's dog Buddy does.
First I will lock Buddy in the parts room so he can't see. I then will take his toy (wrench shaped toy) and hide it in my tool box. It doesn't matter the drawer.
I will let Buddy out and say go get your tools. He will smell each drawer until he zones in on it and then he will use his teeth to open the drawer to get "his" wrench.
Man I sure wish I could teach him the difference between a 9/16 and 1/2 in wrench. LOL
This dog also brings a soda or beer out of the frig for you.
He is a hit at the shop! Brilliant dog!
I'm so proud of Buddy I have to share a photo of the mix we have no clue just guess what breed he is. He is the river dog I was talking about before.
Definition of a River dog~ put them in a sack and toss them in the river. Some ole cowboy took him from the owners and placed him in the shelter along with his litter mates. My son was in Pierre picking up parts and seen the shelter having a parade. Seeing Buddy he fell in love.
Little Buddy was 4 months old @ 40 lbs.
I will never forget him coming home saying. " Mom, I got a dog, they where going to kill him! I just couldn't see that."
He is shaved for the summer but his coat will get around 5 inches long. Your guess is a good as mine about his breed. He matts so easy!!
I say he is Flat coat retriever with Newfie x collie???
I've seen videos of dogs bringing tools to their owners. There was a roofer and he would say what he wanted, the dog would climb down a ladder, get the tool and then climb back up. The dog looked like a lab mix.
Can Buddy tell the difference between a beer and a soda?
Wiley, when I look at his 'long haired' photos, he reminds me of my old Border CollieX. Mine had hair just like that and was all black, and quite large. His mom was a purebred BC, and dad was a BC/Rottie. lol, dad visited the neighbors purebred, champion and got her preggers.
