In my hunter show, I will be jumping 2"0" and doing canter circles. Has anyone else showed before? I'm already nervous "sigh". I had to buy lots of new stuff for this LOL I just hope I do a good job, and hopefully I will be able to show you all pictures :) I wish Angel could be their, but she wouldn't do good around horses. I have been practicing alot lately, and I hope it is good enough for Saturday. We'll, wishe me luck, or pray that I am safe and do good, thanks!!! MPR and Angel :)
Good luck at the show. What kind of horse do you own? I had Egyptian Arabians and while I didn't show them, I had a friend that did show for me. It is exciting to see how your horse (and the handler) compares to the other horses in the ring.
I was so proud of Lacy, at her first show she beat out a local gal that has been showing for over 25 years. Her horses have tons of ribbons and trophies and my baby placed over them.
This same horse went on to be the Great Lakes champion endurance horse. She and her rider competed for years and people stopped her on every ride asking where she found this horse. Hard work and practice pays off, good luck.
i hope that you did well @ your show. i used to do schooling shows & local fairs & it was a lot of fun. you can only do your best & the worst thing that you can happen to you is you'll get thrown off. i was thrown into a fence once, that was embarassing!
Thanks everyone. I don't own a horse, I just lease this paint horse named Rio, he is a dream, and luckily I get to ride him all the time since i lease him, so It kinda seems like I have a horse :) I hope I get to ride Rio in the show, And your right Denim, I can't be nervous or else the horse will sense it. Thanks for all the support. And sorry you got thrown into the fence veryvizsla, I bet that hurt. I have never fallen off a horse before in the three years that I have been riding, But I have gone for extremely crazy rides where I had to hang on really tight, or I would hit the dirt really hard and probably have a brocken bone or two OUCH! Luckily I have not fallen off, The Lord has really blessed me at this point. The poodle owner and her precious poodle
Just wait your time is coming to eat dirt. It just comes with the territory. I have a number of times but I have also ridden many young horses and inexperienced horses that got the better of me. But I have never broken a bone. I have had them fall completely down before too, not all during shows but just all riding in general. Just because I have never broken a bone doesnt mean it couldnt happen. I will be taking my 3 year old filly for some of her first serious rides down the road so that should be interesting. She has done well with everything else but she has a lot to learn about the open road. That is gravel road I am talking about. I road her on a limited basis last year and took her down the road some but only a short distance. Anyway have fun and you will probably make some new friends.
