my baby completley pottytrained in less than a week! Im not worried about her soiling the house if I dont but i AM worried about her diggging under the agte and running away and being destructive in the home since she is all alone. She HATES her crate. She barks and cries the whole time I am gone. I dont want to put a abrk collar on her because she is a guard dog and I dont want her to not bark say if someone uninvited enters the home. Please help!
For her own safety, she needs to be crated. Try associating the crate with good things. Everytime she goes in, give her a treat and praise her. Don't let her out when she is crying and barking, this is just reinforcing her behavior.
I would definatley crate her. As the other poster said don't let her out when she cries and give her treats or toys when she goes in. When I first got my puppies they didn't want to be in there either but now my puppy will walk right in when I tell her to without any problems at all. Crating in my opinion is the way to go. They won't like it at first but they'll get used to it. Try to make sure that she gets lots of excersize before you crate her so then she'll be ready to go to sleep. Where do you keep her crated?
