Every once in a while one of our Chihuahua's will pee in the house. I have heard of spraying the spots in the house with vinigar, mouthwash, and even a moth ball spray to keep them from using that same spot. I also came across a website this morning call peeaway. Just wondering if anyone knows if any of those things work or what does work as a good deterrent.
Ugggh... the age old problem. I don't have any full-proof answers. We use 'Simple Solutions Stain & Odor Remover" So far, they always go back to the same place, so I don't think the 'Odor remover' part of the deal works. It is however and excellent stain remover. I use it on everything. Clothes, carpet, upholstry (sp?), car seats & carpet, etc. It literally takes out everything too! I will monitor this thread to see if anyone comes up with a genious solution!
I have to second Husky's recommendation Simple Solutions is fantastic!! The only thing I have had any luck with is straight vinegar that I used to wipe over the spot after I cleaned up the pee. This was on a quarry tile floor so it didnt' harm the surface at all. Smelled like a salad for a half hour or so..... but seemd to help a little. Thank Goodness he is now fully trained or at least has not gone in the house in over 2 months. But then are they ever full trained LOL
Yes where do you get it? Anyone used Nature's Miracle. I was going to try that. The smell is what I can't get out!!! I have used tons of different odor removers, laundry detergent, spray n wash. I have tried vinegar also, but that smells too, and doesn't seem to help. I finally removed all carpet in the bonus play room we have and put down laminate wood flooring. Since then no more accidents in that room, but if they get access to carpet in the bedrooms they try. LOL
I get the Simple Solutions here at Wal-Mart. They sell it in a small spray bottle, a large one, and a gallon re-fill jug. Pretty cheap too. I think I may have seen it at one of the Pet chains as well. PetSmart maybe? I had cola stains in my car that wouldn't come out. I sprayed it on, it bubbled for a bit, and I dabbed at it. STAIN GONE!!! I was impressed!
I forgot to mention, the Simple Solutions gets the smell out as far as WE can smell. But I think the pheremones get missed. They seem to keep going back to the same place, so obviously they are smelling something.
