I wanted to know if anyone uses advantage flea control for their dogs. It doesn't seen like it last the whole thirty days that it is suppose to. So I wanted to know if there is anything else anybody uses for flea control.
I've never used Advantage. I use K9 Advantix, which deals with fleas, ticks and mosquitoes and works wonderfully in my neck of the woods (Minnesota), where fleas are not really a big worry, but ticks and mosquitoes are.
I work at Petco and I know a lot of people complain that Advantage doesn't work for them or it doesn't last the whole month it is supposed to. I also use K9 Advantix for the same reason the previous person stated - it works great on fleas, ticks, AND mosquitos. Here in TX after all the rain we have gotten, fleas have been horrible. Also, K9 Advantix is the only flea preventive that protects against mosquitos which can cause heartworms.
I used Advantage two summers ago. I found exactly the same thing. I have two white dogs and it seemed that after their first bath the Advantage was no longer effective. I talked to my vet and switched to Revolution and have had no problems at all with that one.
I used advantage 2 months ago and it only lasted about 3 weeks for me so I tried Frontline this time. It's been three weeks again and I noticed 2 fleas on Lacy yesterday so I'm going to have to buy some more this week. I guess I'm just going to have to apply every three weeks instead of 4.
i use advantix like the others stated do. i was a vet assistant for three years and saw time and time again that it is the best for most animals. i wouldn't recommend applying every three weeks like the other person suggested as it can cause health issues. follow the directions and try other products before you pick. fyi- most vets will sell a single months dose so you can try something different without expending so much money just to see if it is effective for your pet.
