He's just a baby. I would not, if it were me, use any chemicals on him. Dilute apple cidar vinager and after shampooing him, rinse him in the acv. Keep a little bottle diluted and spray him if you see any more fleas on him, but this will help and not harm him. The soapy water from the shampoo should kill them and then they hate the taste of vinager.
I work at a pet store and this has been a common question, especially here in TX where the fleas have been horrible due to all the rain. Truthfully, most shampoos and anything else to prevent and kill fleas are for dogs/pups 12 weeks and over. However, I know for sure K9 Advantix states it is for monthly use on dogs and puppies "7 weeks of age and older" and I believe Advantage and Frontline are either the same or for 8 weeks and older. If you don't feel comfortable putting these on him, I have heard bathing puppies in Dawn dishsoap is effective because it suffocates the fleas and it is safe for their sensitive puppy skin.
DeFlea shampoo/spray! It's a natural one and safe to use on dogs/cats/puppies/kittens any age! You can also use it around the home which is nice! Check it out! I believe it's made by Natural Chemistry. (not 100% sure though)

Dusty, most dont know about Avon Skin so Soft, was surprised to see you mention it. I've suggested it on other posts. It's a great product. Helps repel mosq. too, great for skin, fur etc and you can use it every day. Tiny bit, goes a long way. We have used it for a long time. I love the smell of it.
Thanks for all of the help. The vet said just to give him baths. Does skin so soft really work? It won't bother the puppy (Ramsey) at all? Sounds like a plan if there is no danger using it. He is not flea infested, just apparently one here and there, I do have another dog (Riley) and a cat (Elliott), but I do use flea medicine on them. What about using Frontline on my older dog, with the puppy jumping on him and playing all of the time? Will that be a problem? And yes he is adorable, if I knew how to post a picture I would. Both of my boys are beautiful of course and lets not forget my third boy Elliott. They all get along great, Elliott lets Ramsey jump all over him, and just gets up and leaves when he has had enought. Of course Riley and Elliott grew up together so he was used to a dog playing with him. Thanks for all the responses.
you can give him a capstar pill. that will kill all the fleas that are on him within 30 minutes. our newest pup came with fleas also and i gave him a capstar and just gave him a regular bath, not a flea bath, and it got rid of his fleas. thankfully he wasn't infested with them, i only picked 6 total off him.
you may need to repeat the capstar a few times if the fleas had a chance to lay eggs before you treated him.
