To all of you, I lost my dog and placed an ad for an alaskian malamute puppy. One of my responses was too good to be true. A person, had that type of pup, which he didn't realize that he wouldn't have the proper time to devote to it. He said he loved the puppy and wanted to give it to a good home that would spoil it with time/love. He kept in contact with me. But didn't answer my questions fully... well last night, with all my boys excited of getting a new family member, I wrote him and requested a picture... To make sure the dog looked like our beloved dog that just passed. He sent me a picture and it stunned me. A malamute with blue eyes? So I wrote a breeder, and she stated that malamutes do not have blue eyes...woolies do. (a mixed breed with siberian huskie). With my boys still desiring the love of this pup, named "Mick" as per the scammer. I got on to the internet, and honestly thought , who cares.. it's going to be ours... mixed or what... Ican't do this to the boys. It will tear their heart out again. I typed in at the google box alaskan malamute puppies and guess what... The first site that opened up had the same picture of "Mick". But it wasn't south of us (10 1/2 hrs round trip) it was up in Canada! I wrote the breeder.. and asked if they had possession of the dog in this specific picture. They contacted me back immediately..and said YES.. the picture was of the pup when he was 5 weeks old and now is 2 years old! I then got really mad.. so I copied and pasted another picture of this so called "Mick" and emailed my scammer back and asked if he wanted another picture of the dog...he does not own or have in his possession. I asked him for an explaination.. he wrote me back and said.. he was going to get someone else and not to ever write him back. Thinking about this today, how close I was to driving down to an unknown person/apartment and planning to get a puppy... WOW... what a set up... would I have made it back...alive?? WOW...how stupid I was... Here we just lost our 12 1/2 yr old family dog...who we put a memorial up on the site... etc..and we were so vulnerable and depressed...and this was like a ray of hope... PLEASE HEAD my warning... this person said he'd get someone else...Now I'm conserned he might try it even with a cat. I contacted his email provider and others and have made all reports with his isp provider numbers etc.. but if anyone contacts you and states something to good to be true... remember it is..too good to be true... feel free to contact me IF you have been emailed in this same matter... and I will let you know if it's the same scammer/creature/low life.
WOW. That really is kind of scary. It's a good thing you just happened upon the site with the same photo! That makes me think, what should a puppy buyer do as far as being safe when going to get an animal from someone they haven't met in person? Kind of tough because one would want to see where the dog came from and see the parents of the dog, siblings, conditions of living, etc. (in the case of a breeder) but it really isn't safe to be meeting people at their homes. They could have people tied up in the basement for all anybody knows. "It puts the lotion n its skin"
"Be who you are and say what you feel. Because those that matter, don't mind...And those that mind....don't matter."
Yeah, you sure are right...and I thought I was so smart. I guess when your vulnerable..your guard is down. I was once told...that we all have instincts..and something bothered me about the picture... i guess it was the blue eyes... I'm just so glad I didn't ignore the feeling and investigated it a little more. LESS than 12 hrs to when we were going to head out.
Thats why I am leary of buying anything, espically a dog on the internet. I learned right here what questions to ask and what to look for in a breeder. The breeder we bought our yorkie from last week was about 45min. away. She invited to come see the parents. There were 3 puppies in the one litter. The kennel was heated and airconditoned. She has called me everyday since we bought Kayla. Keep looking and researching and you will find the right one. BYW, I had a friend back a few years ago that I worked with that had a blue eyed malmute. Do not know anything about this breed, but I thought their eyes were always blue. Sorry you went through what you did, but thank goodness it wasn't worse. Good luck.
Hi, Yes,I've owned 2 registered malamutes. They are only FULL blooded with BROWN eyes. Siberian Huskies can have brown or blue eyes or one of each. If a malamute has blue eyes, then he is a mixed breed. A malamute and siberian husky IF breeded can produce a "woolie" which is a half bread...with characteristics of both..the malamute markings with the siberian ice blue eyes...but thier fur mats...very cute dogs but need a lot of maintenance/grooming. I couldn't pass up the kindness of this person. A caring individual who knew he couldn't take care of the needs of his puppy.. unfortunately it was just a scam...like I said too good to be true. Thanks though, I beleave the right one will come along.
Your cousin is very fortunate. But that's not the point I'm trying to make with this WARNING... The pup he showed and stated I could come get was very cute...the point I'm trying to WARN the next possible victim is THERE IS "NO" PUP. Some one is trying real hard to either set someone up and lur them into their area/domain or to play a sick joke. But remember, years ago, when we thought the world was safe...if some one stated I going to kill you or a bomb threat came in, we really didn't think hard or twice of it...but now..after 911 and the war etc.. We take things more serious, since we know of what the outcome could be. So Please becareful and don't let your heart take over your thoughts. Don't fall for this SCAM, it could have an awful ending.
