I have an almost nine week old kitten. I got her and she has fleas. Is there anyway I can get rid of them. All the shampoos and collars and stuff say not for kittens under 12 weeks. Also my older cat has been on a cheap version of Frontline. Is this stuff any good, will he get fles from my kitten?
When we found Larry and Henry, they were covered in fleas. They were only 4 weeks old. We bought a flea brush and just brushed our hearts out. I did take them to the vet for help and he put some flea stuff on them, but a tiny tiny drop. Henry did not make it because the fleas had already got him before we found him. But Larry got better and she is now 3 years old and healthy. Point of story, try getting a flea brush, brush the fleas into water to kill them and keep brushing. Ask the vet what to do also.

One thing that not many people think about that many vets won't tell you, try and use Dawn dishliquid soap to wash the kitten with. Thats what we were told by one vet becuase me and my mother litterally had no money to go to the vet and plus we were too worried about using chemicals on such a little kitten to get rid of the fleas. It really worked, we thought the vet was giving us a bunch of bull, but the fleas really dropped right off of the kitten :) SO I use that to date still on my cat, it works like a charm.
I agree with the dawn dishsoap theory! It's worked for me, it doesn't last a long time...a few days, but with kittens,it's about the only way that you can get rid of them without using something harsh!! I'm not sure what age they have to be, but the vet clinics carry a pill called Capstar, it gets rid of the fleas in about 30 minutes! It's awesome!! But back to the dawn dishsoap, you have to use it like you would a flea shampoo. Let it sit for about 3-5 minutes and rinse the heck out of the little guy!! Good luck with the fleas!! OH, also, I haven't used it, but I've heard that they have a flea serum at walmart (etc) it's called something Gold...my mother uses it on her cats and it works miracles (she says it's almost the same as frontline, advantage etc.)
