He is three yrs old. He is so beautiful with big brown eyes but the rash makes him smell so bad no one wants to pet or be near him. I have taken him to four vets and had a biopsy done and all they give me is anti-biotics. With no effect. A Mexian lady was told by her vet to used moter oil (Old used oil) which cleared it up. Since I have two Danes they both licked it off and vomited for two days. I really need help. I am bed ridden,a cancer servivore with diabetes, eschemic bowl deseas and I can't spell too well without a spell checker. They lay in bed with me and keep my blood presure down and make me want to go on. Please give me some advise. My poor baby looks miserable.
Very sorry you and your baby are going through such a hard, difficult time.
Perhaps you have access to a canine dermotologist? Based on your description it sounds like a form of Mange however it could be something else and unless it's properly diagnosed I dont know if we can assist you. I would not use motor oil or anything else someone suggests as you could end up doing very serious harm to the doggies.
I would call your vet and ask for a referal for an actual Animal/Canine Dermotologist. That is the vet that will be able to assist you the most. Best of luck, well wishes for you all.
Aleen, it sounds like your dog originally started out with a dermatitis, maybe from a food allergy, or the like,( or mange, as was suggested )and it has now progressed, and become infected with staph, hence the smell. It could also be a fungal infection. What are you feeding your dog, if you don't mind me asking? I'm sorry that you are in bad health yourself, and it won't be very pleasant to have a big smelly baby sleeping beside you. A trip to the vet is definitely in order though, because if the dog does have an infection, you need to address it for both of your sakes. Good luck, and keep us posted.
