My God, it was a horrible sight to see and I was in absolute panic and my husband was trying and I tried but the dog seemed like he was collapsing. He has a chew bone thing wedged in his throat and he couldnt breathe. I was screaming to save him, my husband perfromed Heimlich Maneuver and saved him after a couple tries. Just thinking he could have died in front on me was horrible
It was actually dried rolled up calf flesh like jerkey but witout preservatives for puppies. It is about 6 inches but usually when it reaches quarter I remove it for this same reason I had ONLY turned my self away to put dinner for my husband for five minutes when this happened. I meant to take it away but I said ok he is still holding it with his feet so it must be still safe, the meat gets soft and he eats it but this one part didnt get soft and wedged in his Trachea and throat and now he makes a very bad sound when barking and also eating. So he must have damaged the Trachea I am doing an endoscopy tomorrow. He seems fine now, and energetic and eating, but it was truly horrifying to see him, his eyes were rolling in the back of his head.
AVOID those chews that are edible, remove when it is quarter in size and DISCARD. Give them big or small dogs it UNTIL they have reached 3/3'rds not even quarter that is too small so I rephrase.
