So now that Lucy is no longer the baby and she's come to the conclusion that Duke isn't going anywhere I'm thinking she's starting to act up a little. She won't eat her food. This just started the day before yesterday and at first I thought it was because of her cold but she'll eat other stuff like cottage cheese and whatnot, then I just assumed she would rather have the puppy food because she'll eat Duke's so I started mixing just a little bit in her food but that was no dice then last night after she had eaten his again(don't worry I make sure he eats enough) I put a little of her regullar dog food into his bowl and she gobbled it down leading me to the conclusion that she just wants to eat out of his bowl to show alpha and probably a little jealousy in there too. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do...also if anyone knows of some good dog food that would be great too...right now they're on beneful but I've heard that it's very full of dye and not the greatest so...
It certainly sounds like a bit of a jealousy issue. Try feeding them seperately. Beneful is not a good food at all. Look at Wiley's list, it will give you a good idea of the better foods. It's under the thread called Wiley's list of grading food. Excellent guide.
Lucy- I had the same problem w/my boys trying to eat out of the others bowl..i feed them in different spots now. I put one on one side of the kitchen and the other with his back to him and on the othersid of the kitchen. It works, now they don't even pay the other any mind!! :) I, like Pen, would reccomend the thread of Wileys food list...it's VERY informative!! Food you thought was great for your pups is terrible!!! I recently switched from Eukanuba to Royal Canine and it's wonderful!! Pups are eating so much better than they were!! Definatly check that sticky out....it's a great tool in choosing your puppy food!!! :)
You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me hapy when skies are grey. You'll never know dear, how much I love you..please don't take my sunshine away!
Just a note about Beneful, a friend of mine used to feed it to her dogs, until I told her it's not very good food. Anyway, when I was over at her house, with 2 of my dogs, they happened upon her dog's bowl, and scarfed that stuff down, like it was steak. There's definitely something in it, that tastes good, to them.
