Vick, who already pleaded guilty in federal court to a dogfighting conspiracy charge and is awaiting sentencing Dec. 10, was indicted on one count of beating or killing or causing dogs to fight other dogs and one count of engaging in or promoting dogfighting. Each count is a felony, punishable by up to five years in prison.
The grand jury declined to indict the Atlanta Falcons quarterback and two co-defendants on eight counts of animal cruelty, which would have exposed them to as many as 40 years in prison if convicted.
I'm very disappointed too Riley. It is of some comfort that the public at large is totally disgusted with this 'man', and most, if not all his sponsorships have been cancelled. It still makes me sick though, when I think of what he and his friends did.
he signed a summary of facts stating that he killed "six to eight" dogs and admitted to a bunch of other stuff in regards to the federal case. It is assanine that he couldn't get 6 counts brought against him (I understand 8 could be tough) for each charge. One count is ridiculous. It's not even a trial where he's up for conviction (with his high priced defense team present) it was a simple grand jury to bring the charges against him so that he could be tried. That prosecutor is ridiculously incompetent!
Darn, I haven't heard much of him latley. He deserves more but, like normap said, it's more than I thought he was going to end up getting. He sure does deserve to be locked up for a looong time. =/ The world these days.
A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself. - Josh Billings
It's more than I thought too but his sentence will probably be community service or volunteering at a humane society. We'll see if this turns out to be another O.J. fiasco. Does anyone know what happened with DMX and his dogs? Why isn't he in the news?
In order to really enjoy a dog, one doesn't merely try to train him to be semi human. The point of it is to open oneself to the possibility of becoming partly a dog. ~Edward Hoagland
Well we might have known. The laws are for the crooks not to help us. In my book that is just what I would clasify him as too, a crimmnal. Slap on the hand. It makes me sick. At Petco today I seen a sign that said it is now against the law for dogs to be put on chains. I don't know if that is just for Texas or what. Also, they were saying that the roadside selling of dogs was going to be stopped too. Great!!Alot of these puppies are sick and its horrible seeing them sell them and they are in crowded cages, hot, and alot of times not even water. I hope and pray we begin to see some changes made.
He will get hard prison time. How much, I don't know, but there will be prison time. I tend to think it will be measured in years, not days or weeks. I think the prosecutor in Surry County Virginia is an idiot, but Vick is the bigger idiot and between Surry County and the Fed, he will be doing some real prison time.
It isn't exactly like OJ, because vick has already signed a statement of facts admitting to crimes. OJ was found innocent of his crimes. OJ was not punished (criminally), Vick's only issue is how he'll be punished.
