her paw is not broken, so my parents said theirs no point taking her to the vet, their not going to say much about it! My dad was sitting in the outdoor chairs the other day, and Angel was sleeping behind his chair, my dad didn't know, went to lean back in the chair and smooshed my pumpkins paw. Angel was crying for a minute, and was linping around, so my dad went and got me. I wrapped her paw up, sqeezed it to see if she showed signs of pain, she seems to be doing better, but when she runs she wobbles a little bit on her sore paw. I have already iced it once, but I didn't want to give her that cold hurting feeling in her paw, so didn't ice it very long. Anything else I can do? Ive been keeping her off it lately! She hasn't ran at all today, but i'm going to get the mail with her, and i'll have her run to see if anything improved! :)
Not that I'm a vet, but your parents are correct. The vet wouldn't be able to do anything for her paw. If you're babying the paw, you need to quit. She'll heal and be able to run on it if nothing's hurt badly. It's probably kinda like what happens when we smash something. It hurts, but the more we baby it, the longer it takes to get better.
your right debi, I have been babying her on it a bit, but it's all going to stop, i guess sometimes i worry that it will efect her in the future, but what your saying sounds right! thank you! :) thats awesome that your going to become a vet, thats what i want to be when I get older! Is it hard?
As long as you know it's not broken or fractured.. it's probably bruised (hematoma) with tissue damage. This will heal.. it'll be sore for awhile. Let the puppy use it, so it builds up it's strength..just don't let it abuse it or over use it. Accidents happen..but mother nature will heal it! Good luck!!!
