My cat was diagnosed by the vet as having allergies. But he didnt give her any meds, does anyone know of any meds I can give my cat? her face has a red spot by her lips and im starting to feel bad for her.
The vet probably didn't think meds were necessary. (and cats are a nightmare to give medicine to anyway) But I can't believe your vet didn't give you any suggestions. What does he think you're paying him for? When my vet thought Allie had allergies she was suggesting a diet change, not meds. Allie was itchy and had dandruff though, not spots around her lips. But it turned out to be something else and not allergies anyway. There are usually some people who can help you with questions at the major pet supply stores. Maybe they can suggest a food that would help. You don't really want to give your cat any meds that you don't get from a vet. It's not really safe. Also since it's around her face, make sure her bowls are cleaned every day and don't use plastic. Plastic holds bacteria and you don't want germs getting in her sores and making it worse. Good luck!
Hi, Just wondering how the diagnoses was made? My cat has recently been diagnosed with allergies also. He had skin biopsies done. I found the results to be very vague. He then had blood tests done which listed what he is allergic to. The vet gave him a steroid injection while we are waiting for a vaccination to come from England which we should have this week. However I am told there is no guarantee that it will work and could take 8-12 months to work after a series of injections. I put him on the Hills dried food as the vet suggested it may be his food but it isn't, though the dried food is giving him a fabulous coat.
