I'd say she's 90% potty trained and she sits, stays, is pretty good on her leash, and listens to "no bite" and "down" most of the time. She is a little bad for the first few minutes when she meets someone new, but its basically just puppy excitement and she calms down and behaves well.
She is also very well socialized and LOVES to rough house with the other (bigger) dogs at the park nearby.
2 questions: 1. How do I teach the command "come"? 2. Is there anything else I should be focusing on now for her development?
Don't know how others do it, but when we took our dog for training, we were told. Treats, and love!
We would and still do say "Payton come!" and when Payton comes you reward with a treat and and Good dog, Payton good dog come. The more you practice, the faster they come.
Would you believe we use Cheerios for a treat. Rocky loves them. A small handful and he is in heaven.
We used a totally different treat when we were potty training him and every time he went outside we did and still do, praise him and when we get in the house after he poops, he still gets a treat. Dosen't matter what you use, but the trainer was right. Praise and a treat work wonders. Good luck!
Thanks for the advice. So, I attempted to try it last night. The problem is, Payton basically follows me everywhere.
So, I had her sit and told her to stay. When I went to the other side of the room and said "payton come" and she didn't come. You could tell she wanted to (I had treats) but she just wouldn't. Then I realized, the last command she understood was stay, so thats what she did. She was being good, but it didn't help my training.
