Very Very slow and on neutral territory.. Keep them seperate... and introduce them, say in a public park or street corner.. a few times.... before putting them together at home. Once they get to know each other... and know their place...such as alpha etc... then you won't be able to seperate them... they will love each other... but remember..this might not happen right away... it takes time.
Thank you everybody for the ideas and sugestions. A few days ago,I got the new sheltie puppy. My 3 year old dog and the puppy keeps on fighting and clawing and bitting each other. I try to seperate them but they both growl at me and they both continue to fight. Sometimes I hear the puppy yelp and howl for help. I want to help her but my 3 year old dog wouldn't let me. PLEASE HELP!!
is it an aggressive type of fighting? I only ask because my puppy and my friends puppy who are about 3 months apart fight all the time in a very playing sense...they sound vicious but are just playing and a lot of times they need to establish who's boss...now I am in no way shape or form telling you it's okay to let the dogs fight especially if one is getting hurt I'm just saying from one overprotective doggie momma that sometimes (if it's safe) you just have to let them work it out in a controlled way
Make sure that you're leader of the pack They won't have to compete for pack leader if you identify that you're the leader. Try simply walk with both of them and make sure they follow you and you have everything under control
It is very had to keep them in control! I took a walk with them both at a park, and took them both off leash. I held my puppy in my arms and let my old sheltie to run free. But the puppy squarmed out of my hands and started to fight with my old sheltie. How do I keep them apart and tell them to stop fighting? I mean my old sheltie is my friend and was always faithful to me but I don't know what happened to him.
Thank you everybody but... I gave my puppy away to my friend who lives in Minnesota and I live very far away from that state(I shipped my puppy). It broke my heart to see her go but I had to do it to protect her from my older sheltie.Thank you everyone again...
