Can someone help me with this? I can't belive how aggressive she is! She is a nine week old long hair chihuahua. She was very quiet in the litter and since I got her home has become VERY aggressive. Today I tried to take her from her crate after nap and she really snarled at me and bit me hard enough to draw blood. What am I going to do with her. I have a two yr old same breed.
When I go to pick a puppy, the last one I pick is the quiet timid one, for various reasons. In your case, how long have you had your puppy? Did you buy her from a reputable breeder? How many other puppies were in the litter, and did you meet the parents of this baby?
Let the puppy come out of the crate on its own. If you just got the puppy he or she is not familiar with you yet and a crate is a safety place for them. I had the same problem. I bought a siberian husky puppy that was really aggressive, wanting to bite all the time. I tried chew toys and bones and nothing seemed to work. She is now 7 months old and growing out of that aggressive stage. Give it time, the puppy with learn to love you. I almost gave up on mine and I am so thankful I didn't. She has turned out to be a good girl.
The quite puppy in the litter is usually the alfa and they can get really snappy. specially smaller breeds. Check out some of cesar milans books on being a pack leader. She has to learn that biting is not an acceptible behavior.
If you think dogs can't count, try putting three dog biscuits in your pocket and then giving Fido only two of them.
