I have a 1 1/2 yr old beagle, who I rescued when she was 7 weeks old. She is the sweetest dog I have every had, and very well behaved when she is with me. However, I cannot leave the house without coming home to destruction. She has shredded everything from the wooden cabinets, to the carpet and also doors. I am now trying to crate train her as I cannot afford to have her destroy anything else. She also is panting and howling so hard when I come home that I am afraid she will have a stroke! The problem with the crating is that she howls the entire time she is in there, I have tried everything for her to like the crate, including peanut butter and cheese frozen kongs. Does anyone know what I can do to get her to enjoy her crate? Also, I haven't been able to put anything in the bottom of her crate because she shreds it, any suggestions on what I can put in there? Any input would be appreciated!!
I have the same problem with my dog eventually she will get used to it, I know it sounds mean but I have to do the same thing because my dog tore up everything. The problem you are having is what I had before i would put shirt and rub the shirt on me so she can smell my scent on the shirt it and when you leave put a Tv on are a radio because it keeps them company. It's mean at all if you dont have anything in the crate because it's better then torturing themselves and trying to kill themselves. I promise she will get use the crate mine still cries but they will eventually get over it. Now she loves her crate and it's the best way to potty train them.
my dog is awesome he is a boston terrier and pug mix and hes the sweetest little guy. his name is cody, and everytime i leave he crys its so cute and my mom tells me he waits at the window and is constantly going to my room and when i am at home he scratches at my door and constently has to be with me. its cute but i think he needs a dog friend or somthing.
