Whenever my 10 m/o puppy, Missy, sees someone she doesn't recognize (such as myself or my parents) she will go crazy and start barking at them. It drives me crazy, because I don't want her to scare the person , ya know? And she will NOT listen to me when I say "no" or "come" when she's barking at someone. I don't understand why she does this. She's as sweet as she can be to me and my parents, but if a stranger comes along she just goes crazy. So, does anyone know what I can do to stop this? Thanks!
I'm guessing your pup is afraid you don't have things under control, and is trying to handle the situation with the strangers on her own terms. You *should* be able to calmly tell her "Enough" and she should let it go.
I recommend obedience training for both of you. But mostly for you, since it will teach you how to assure her that you have things under control.
