My 16 week old daschund, for the past few days has begun to vomit in the mornings, looks to be a clear/white foaming type of fluid. Other than that she acts like a typical puppy and has no other signs of illness/distress Does anyone know what could cause this or any remedies?
Does she get overly excited in the morning? Sometimes that can cause dogs to vomit. Are you free feeding her? That could cause her to vomit, if she gets really excited. Have you changed her food, lately? If it continues, a trip to the vet is in order.
As far as a change in the type of food, she is still on Innova which what was recommended when we purchased her. However, we have been giving her small Purina puppy dog biscuits as a "treat" when she goes potty outside, which we just recently started doing about 1 week ago. Do you think those could be the cause?
I have also read that it could be that she isn't eating enough, do you think it would be better to put her in her crate and place the food in there during certain times throughout the day?
I have to give my small dogs a few pieces of kibble before bed or two of the three dogs will do the same in the morning. The vomit is generally frothy white and bile (yellow) colored. If this is occurring before your dog eats in the morning that could help the problem.
I would try feeding her a small amount before bed. Her evening meal is probebly @ 5 and not again till 7am the next morning. If it is a couple of treats or a small meal at night try it. I would not recomend putting her dish in the crate at night. Her crate should have nothing in it except her and maybe something worm to snuggle in.
It is better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all.
Sounds like she is just vomiting up bile. Alot of dogs will do that when their tummy is empty and they need to eat. I would feed her 3 times a day (just small meals) and something before she goes to bed at nite. See if that helps. Hope she feels better.
