Sorry, I meant how long are goldfish supposed to live? I've had telescope eyed goldfish for about 7 years now. While a couple have died within weeks of bringing them home, most live a few years. The oldest was about 4 when he died. Is that how long they are supposed to live? I'm pretty paranoid about stressing them out in any way. I'm even more careful now b/c telescopes are becoming pretty rare in my area. They are my absolute favorite kind of fish, I even have one tattooed on my back.

if their well taken care of and dont have health problems, i know people who have had 9-10 year old goldfish. so it depends.

Goldfish are really sensitive...... You have to really take care of the fish, its environment and its food quantity to enable the fish to live longer....

Some goldfish can live 25 years or so. (not sure about the fancy ones.)

Goldfish need a LOT of space. They are oxygen hungry pigs! And good filtration.
Overcrowding is their number one killer. Amonia levels rise and if it doesn't kill the fish outright, it is enough to weaken them and lead to infections.

i got 8 fishes from my daughters carnival-----TRUE STORY---

we took them home:VERY TRAGIC STORY
here are there names:
Saniah- The mother of them all (very picky but loves her kids)
Hunter-The oldest daughter (very mean, killed her little sister maya)
Noah-Hunters boyfriend(when they were the only 2 he made hunter preagnut)

Larry-the father of them all(hes nice and fat looking)
Maya-awww poor maya every day of her life when it was feeding time she did not get a chance to eat any food,when then the familly was always on the left side of the tank she was always on the right.
days later when everyone grew up hunter ate maya :( she did get eaten beacause the body was gone and hunter was FAT. she also was the tinyiest lonyliest fish in her familly.

Vanessa: the other sister,she doesent do much but.... float in the tank starring at the glass.

Henry: brother of the family describe him like Vanessa but a little more curious.

Rena-she is sooo boring!!! she hangs with Vanessa and Henry a lot

First hunter ate maya , lost mayas body weight in weeks,Henry's
little fin got injured when Vanessa took a little bite of it,then his gills were breaving slowley,and you know it, a couple days he was GONE,Hunter got slimmer and changed a little bit , there was a beautiful black line across her slim body(she went through puberty)
3 weeks later)larry got sick and was in pain(died) Rena died after from serious pain of floating. Vanessa was a healthy little fish till she got in a fight and was injured(died) Saniah died from--idk ------yrz later Hunter and Noah were the only 2 left until jasmine(human owner child) over loaded the fish tank with fish cleaner-----it did not work and hunter died pregnaut and noah died bored. Those that explain most of the dieing?

Well, they can live long is you take good care of them. Clean them out regulary ect. I had a goldfish called Mobey and he lived for 9 years his tail was really big lol. I really never thought he would live long because i got him from a carnivl on hook the duck. ha ha.I had a friend how had 2 goldish they died within 2 weeks
