Tonight I took my dog to the off leash dog park as I normally do when I get off of work. Tonight I started talking to one of the "regulars" that goes to the park. I asked her what kind of dog Topaz is. She said she is a mix between a Austrailian Shepherd and Border Collie. I said she is beautiful, because really it is a gorgeous dog. She responds to me, "Yeah, I know. My stupid husband had her spay before talking it over with me. I really hoped to breed her to a "red heeler" someday for at least one litter, but I guess that won't happen." I bit my tongue, for Daisy's (my dog) sake, because Daisy and Topaz are friends; but what I wanted to say is, "thank God your husband has some common sense." Take this story for what it's worth. I guess I've never really run into anyone (that isn't an online person only) that wanted to breed for any other reason then bettering their breed. Just thought I'd share... I am just happy Topaz is fixed and doesn't have to worry about her stupid mother breeding her to some random dog--thank you Topaz's daddy.
I stopped talking to one guy at the dog park here because he is going to breed his Black Lab, that he bought at a pet shop, and he is keeping 3 of the pups and his MIL is taking the rest. I looked at him and asked your MIL is ready to take 7+ pups? Because a litter of 10 is pretty common or a lab, he said yes, WTF??? I looked at him and said you should just shut up right now and leave becasue you are not going to like my response from here on in.
