I have 2 toy manchester terriers....I have not seen any others with hair loss like this. Does anyone know of anything that it could be or something that might help.
They started loosing hair on the throat area, as if they were wearing a collar that was rubbing it off, but they don't wear collars....we had the vet check them for demodex mange with negative results.....and now they have hair thinning on their tails, back legs, and under bellies. I have put them on a horrible fish smelling omega 3, fatty oils, protien coat whatever from the vet as a supplement and having them on another hair and coat vitamin called missing link.
Ok.....soooooo, does anyone know of anything that this could be or that would help me.
maybe the quality of food you are feeding them is poor ? hairloss can also be caused by thyroid issues, cushings disease, etc., but the fact that it is happening to both at the same time would make either of those 2 reasons unlikely.
Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.
If you look at the hair loss, does it seem to happen in a pattern? Manchester Terriers are one of the breeds that are known to show Pattern Alopecia, at about 6 months of age.I would ask your vet about this.
Your dog could have a thyroid problem, whe my little Angel was alive, she had thryoid and kidney porblems, and the thyroid made her lose a tone of hair, it would come out in chunks. Thryoid can make your dog eat alot more, lose lots of hair, but when Angel had it, she didn't eat a whole lot like the symptoms that thryoid are supposed to cause. You'll get alot of help off here.
