i have a 6 month old pitbull/mastif mix, he has been with my sister & her family for 4 of those months. I finally was able to have him where i live & i brought him over to my dads house, my dad was playing with his poodle when my dog SNAPPED at him, so my dad popped him on the nose to tell him no & he SNAPPED again, a had to pull him back, my dog has never before shown agression to ANYTHING before. He is a good dog & gets along with all animals & people, but he acts weird around my dad. Please give me some advise on why he may have done this & what i can do to prevent something like this from happening again. thank you.

Could it possibly be jealosy or maybe protectiveness??? Depending on how your dad was playing with the poodle, your dog could have been jealous - they are a lot like kids. However, being a guardian breed mix it could also have been the dog protecting someone/thing. I would be very patient (don't pop him on the nose - it doesn't really teach them anything and can make them show more aggression if that is the problem). If he does it again - put him in a crate if you have one, put on his leash and tell him NO!, or something similiar to that sort of punishment. Also, I am in complete agreement with the previous poster - dog/puppy socialization and obedience classes!!! Both of those breeds need them.
